Amateur Comedy Night information

Who can perform? Anyone with the nerve to get up on stage. Original material only! We don’t care how good you do Dane Cook’s or Larry the Cable Guy’s material.
Can I do “Blue” material? Within reason! Be funny if you’re blue. “Crude” alone won’t get you much stage time. Ethnic jokes must be delivered tastefully. “No Michael Richards rants!
Can I do “Props”? Absolutely but you have to clean up and get off the stage quickly after performing.
How much time will I get? This of course depends on how many comics we have, the audience response to your stuff, and how often you perform at “Memphis on Main”. Initially though you will get 3-7 minutes which may grow from there.
How do I sign up? Two ways! By simply signing up one hour before the show on show nights (Remember! space is limited, and first come first serve). Or by reserving your spot via the website (http://memphisonmain.com) . Reserved spots take precedence over walk-ins. There are only a limited number of reserve spots per night so plan accordingly.
How does the website reserved spots work? Log onto the “Memphis on Main” website and pay $20 (refundable) via PayPal which guarantees a spot in our show. You must sign up at least three days before you plan to perform. Yes you can sign up multiply nights…but you must pay $20 for each night you reserve.
Why am I paying $20? The $20 is designed to help out-of- town comedians reserve a spot without driving a long distance. Some clubs require you show up weeks in advance just to sign-up for future shows. We hope to make it easier for and encourage comics traveling longer distances to show up. It also guarantees a spot on a night that fit’s the comedian’s schedule . As long as you show up and perform on the night you reserved a spot, you will be refunded the $20. You must bring your PayPal receipt with you which will be verified through our website the night of your performance. Your spot will be held until that night’s show begins.
If you fail to show up for your scheduled performance the $20 will be forfeited to the bar.
